Chiefs Trade Up for Texas WR Xavier Worthy
Buffalo Bills Move Down in First-Round Surprise
Kansas City Moves Up to Secure Top Receiver
The Kansas City Chiefs made a bold move on Thursday night, trading up nine spots to select Texas wide receiver Xavier Worthy with the No. 28 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. The move came as a surprise to many, as the Chiefs were already well-stocked at the wide receiver position with Tyreek Hill and Mecole Hardman.
However, the Chiefs' decision to move up for Worthy is a sign of their belief in his potential. The 6-foot-1, 195-pound receiver is considered one of the most dynamic playmakers in the draft. He led the nation in receiving yards per game in 2023 and was named a first-team All-American.
The trade for Worthy cost the Chiefs their second-round pick (No. 62 overall), third-round pick (No. 95 overall), and fourth-round pick (No. 127 overall). The Bills, who moved down to No. 29, received the Chiefs' second-round pick and a future third-round pick.
The Chiefs' move up for Worthy is a sign that they are serious about contending for a Super Bowl in 2024. They already have one of the most explosive offenses in the NFL, and the addition of Worthy gives them another dangerous weapon to work with.
